Looking around, Jon noted most of the class already wore name tags with their names on them, neatly written by a flowing feminine hand, he came forward, waiting in line as the other students picked up their tag, however, when Jon got to the desk he saw only one tag left and the name on it was not his own, the name was Sarah.
Jon looked around, the only Sarah in the class was the Queen Bee herself, Sarah McMillan, but looking at her, her name tag also said Sarah - what the Heck was going on?
"Ms Esposito, you seem to have two tags for Sarah but none for me, I'm Jon, Jon Gibson!"
"Oh My Gosh! I'm so sorry Jon, well, I'm sure it is just some stupid error on my part, just keep that one for now and I will have it fixed for tomorrow, thank you for pointing this out to me"
Jon went back to his seat, not even realising he had subconsciously pinned the tag to his shirt, fortunately, none of the rest of the class seemed inclined to make fun of him for wearing a girl's name, Jon was more worried that Sarah would take offense but she even smiled at him, probably the nicest, most genuine smile she had ever shown him for a long time.
Jon sat and tried to concentrate, he kept on getting distracted though, for some reason he was finding the bad fashion choices of some of the students irritating, like, get a clue! he thought, but all thoughts that this was odd for him did not occur, at first, he did notice Sarah looking over at him once or twice, she gave him a friendly smile, this was odd, he and Sarah had sort of drifted apart, even though they had been friendly as little kids, however, as fallout from whatever feud she and Karyn had between them, he had found that Sarah classed him in the same bracket as his best friend, which was a shame, Sarah was actually pretty nice when you got to know her, but she was driven to perfection, which made her curt and impatient with some people.
Talking of perfection, Jon felt that being in a day dream while such an excellent teacher was giving a very informative lecture on the properties of Noble gases was stupid, so he refocused his attention on the lesson, ignoring the strange sensations coming from his crotch, the rest of the class was similarly enthralled, this might be why they did not notice that Jon's dark brown hair was lightening to a golden brown, nor that his hazel eyes now had a bluish rim to the iris, then there were those strange aches in his hips, his joints, in fact everywhere, the tingling in his chest and posterior, indeed a general sense of uneasiness and feeling like his body did not fit his skin.
But Sarah noticed, and she smiled to herself, when Jon left class at the end of the lesson she followed him, knowing he was about to be confronted with the truth , she needed to be there to help him through this.
