For as long as he could remember, Jon had a terrible fear of death and that he would one day pass away. While he knew that most people had this fear, his kept him up at night sometimes. It sent him to therapy on at least one occasion. It made him afraid to drive when he was at his worst. The only thing that kept him from going completely mad was the idea that one day he might be able to transfer his consciousness into the body of a robot. He just hoped he would make it to that day.
But now, with the magic stone in his hand, Jon knew that day had finally come. Just holding it made him feel calm again. Calmer than he had been in a long time. He could, he supposed, just wish for eternal life, but then he would miss out on the superior logic and enhanced body that came with being a robot. He really saw no downside to it.
So when he came home that day after meeting with Karyn, he ran to his room and closed his door. His heart beat calmed. And he made his wish.
"I wish that I was a robot."
The stone glowed, granting his wish, and curing his fear. Unfortunately for Jon, it took a few liberties along the way . . .
