I'm seeing what I'd consider a false dichotomy in the discussion here that I think is mainly my fault, due to poor phrasing in my opening post. In my mind, the ideal fetish story has plenty of story. A few lines getting right to the kink does nothing for me. I've got to get emotionally invested, and that involves a lot of the same things a non-fetishy story needs to be engaging.
I had however noticed some instances of things that as far as I can tell weren't meant to be fetishy at all though, and also cases of works I thought where fetishy whose authors disagreed. Is it just me?
Could also just be me being paranoid, as I've seen some other sites start going that way ages ago and I didn't like how they ended up.
