Karyn didn't see Sarah again until the end of the school day. She was at her locker, packing up her bag, when Sarah came charging along the hallway. Sarah was pulling Jon along by his arm, and had her other hand cradled under a swollen belly that made it look like she was nine months pregnant.
"There you are, you psychopath! I knew that your minion, Jon, would know where you were hiding!" Sarah practically shouted. She winced slightly after these words, and released Jon's arm, putting her other hand on her swollen belly.
Karyn smiled. "You seem to have come along quite rapidly, Sarah! I admit, I didn't think your results would be so... dramatic!" she said.
Sarah glared at her. "What did you do to me, you bitch?!?" she yelled, wincing again.
Karyn cocked her head. "Do you really want to talk about it here? With everyone around?" she asked. Several students were peeking surreptitiously in their direction, whispering to each other.
Sarah sneered. "I don't care who is around, I want you to tell me what you did to me!" she said.
"I told you before. Every time you insult someone, your belly will swell a little bit, until you look massively pregnant. It shouldn't be that hard to understand." Karyn replied.
Sarah gaped at her. "You're fucking insane!" she said, wincing once more. "HOW can you do this?"
Karyn smiled again. "How isn't really important to you, I think, Sarah. It's more about why. You've been a total bitch to everyone in the school as long as I've known you, and you use your good looks and popularity to hurt other people. For the next week, we and some of your other victims are going to teach you a few lessons and see if we can't change your attitude a bit. Now pull up your shirt so we can see your tummy, please."
Sarah snarled, saying "Yeah, right, like I'd do that here. You're an idiot." At the same time, her hands reached to the hem of her blouse and pulled it up, revealing a hugely swollen belly with stretch marks running up and down it.
Jon's jaw dropped, and the whole hallway fell silent as the school saw what, in their minds, was proof positive that the rumours were true and Sarah McMillan was, indeed, pregnant.
