Painted on the door in pink was the name Zoey—with a Y, Jon noted. Inside, she was listening to some pop music and working. There was nothing black in the room at all, a far cry from the angsty cave it was until the dice rolled. She was wearing a sage green top, definitely something Zoe (no Y) would never have caught herself dead in.
"Something up?" she asked in a friendly tone, seeing Jon and his friend Karyn in the doorway.
"Oh, nothing, just checking on you," Karyn replied.
"Oh, okay..." She turned back to doing whatever she was doing on her computer.
Jon and Karyn retreated back to Jon's room and started wondering how different the world was. Jon looked up a variety of topics on his computer to find that they were nothing to write home about. Sports didn't exist. History was mostly non-controversial. Video games seemed to be simulators and work things: The Sims, SimCity, Paperboy...
"Goodness, this world is boring." He stared at Karyn and at his room, which was more beige than it had been prior to rolling the dice.
"At least we're only here for a day," she thought, recalling Jon's original wish for the dice.
