At first, Jon and Sarah braced themselves for what Biff was about to see, but as it turned out, they were doing more staring at him than he was doing at them.
"Biff?" Sarah asked, wondering if her boyfriend had lost his mind. Though given what they had found in the bedroom drawers and closet, maybe the whole world had lost its mind.
The star quarterback was just as muscular as usual, having the same buzz-cut hairstyle, and it was him. But the rest of him? He was wearing a pink "princess dress", like something a very young girl would wear, along with Mary Janes on his feet. Somehow, the dress fit his much taller and larger teenage boy body. He also wore a pink hairband, but having barely any hair on his head, it was both odd-looking and completely pointless.
Biff blushed. "Oh you noticed, huh? When I signed up for this thing, I didn't know I was gonna have to play the part of a girl," he said. "No amount of extra credit is worth this."
"Play the part of a girl? What are you talking about?" Sarah demanded.
"What do you mean? You don't know? Oh, man, I heard that some users were having this problem. I just didn't think you'd be one of them."
"Jon doesn't know either," Sarah said.
"Really? That's weird. One person not remembering, that's one thing. But the person you're paired with ...?"
"Just tell us what's going on," Jon said, maybe a little too bluntly.
"We're all in a computer simulation. The point of it is that we're supposed to be living lives where we're married to a person we don't like. That part was done right, but some kind of computer error caused our parts to be reversed or changed. So now guys are playing the parts of the wives, and girls are playing the parts of the husbands. More than that, sometimes people are playing the married couple's kids. Like me, apparently. For the duration of the simulation, I'm supposed to be your daughter. Believe me, this is totally fucking weird, but ..." Suddenly, his eyes glazed over, and dumb smile appeared on his face. "Mommy, Daddy. Can we go to the park now?"
"Biff?" Sarah asked, getting very worried.
Her boyfriend blinked, then got angry. "Not again! That keeps happening!"
"What keeps happening?" Jon asked.
"Every time I do something that's completely out-of-character for a little girl, the program makes me act like her."
Jon and Sarah gave each other uneasy looks. Nothing like that had happened to them. At least not yet. And they hoped it wouldn't. One of the last things Jon wanted was to be forced to act like Sarah's wife, and one of the last things that Sarah wanted was to be forced to act like Jon's husband. Even if it was for a short time.
