Zoe waited for something to happen, but nothing did. She thought that touching Mikey with the wand would return Mikey's personality from Jon to himself, but nothing happened at all.
What Zoe didn't know was that there was no one in close proximity to Mikey right now to pull a personality from. Except for Zoe and Jon. But it didn't work for Zoe, because she was holding the wand. And it didn't work for Jon because he had already been affected by the wand.
