When the silvery light faded his mother looked physically the same but like someone out of one of his fantasies, in that she was dressed in a skimpy and very revealing swimsuit. It was nothing that his mother would ever wear. First of all, she was a mother and quite a sensible one at that, not some sort of beach bimbo, and second of all, she just didn't have the type of body that that sort of swimwear would exemplify.
