And I fully intend to carry through with that, but will do so very slowly.
Two of the philosophies that drive me in writing this are
-
The idea of a precarious balance of power with utter travesty on one side and utter victory on the other. Logically, whoever gets complete control over the stone first wins. Period. That's it. So I want to set Jon and Karen on their heels about to lose control, but never quite failing. I fully intend to keep them there (or worse!) until story resolution.

Slow methodical changes. Sure, I love branches where poof fun stuff happens, but I want to make sure we have time for the characters to actually experience what they're going through. Fast enough to keep them off balance, slow enough to prevent them from just blocking it out.
My plan is for one of Sarah's wishes to backfire in a very personal way right as things become the absolute worst for Jon and Karen. Then when all characters are in their grim apotheosis, I'll enjoy writing the slow return to normalcy, enabled in part by those first two written wishes.
I'm not saying that my writing is so great as to reflect this idea, but I at least have this general philosophy governing the path of the story.
If you have any ideas, or feel inspired, I'd love to hear them. I enjoy writing most when foiling off of others ideas.
