"I wish that..." Karyn's wish was cut short as the world suddenly went black.
"I am sorry that I had to do that, but lets face it you were going to make my life a living hell because I pulled a little gag." Mark was squating down besides the couch where Karyn was laying down.
Her face sore she looked around spotting the stone on the coffee table in front of her. She tried to reach for it quickly before Mark could do anything, but it was as if she couldn't force her limbs to do respond.
"I bet you're wondering why it is that I'm not trying to stop you from taking the stone." He picked up the stone holding it in front of her taunting her. "See I couldn't have you using the stone against me. So I simply wished that you could never use the stone again. I also wished you'd lay still till we had a chance to have a little, lets call it a heart to heart." He paused for a second before standing up and walking to the other side of the room.
"You do realize that even if I can't use the stone I will still make you pay little boy. Assuming that I'm in a good mood I can go to the police and have you arrested for asault, the girls at school and the teachers would love to hear about your little finger snapping manuver, oh yeah and assuming that none of the girls take your hand off at the wrist to keep you from causing the waterworks you'll never get a girl to go anywhere near you, much less date you. And do you know why? Because, you're a pathetic looser who..." Mark planted his foot in her gut cutting her speach short.
Mark took a step back as Karyn coughed trying to regain her wind. He took a moment to regain his composure before he spoke again. "You see Karyn, you were right about me. I don't understand women. I mean you're wrong about everything else, but you were right about that. My mother lives on alimony checks from my father."
"So what your dad's a jerk and now you want to punish women because he has to pay for being a dick?" Karyn spit the words out venom punctuating every sylable.
"The courts gave her full custody because they think he's a child abuser." Mark continued not breaking his stride. "They didn't care what I said. I was too young to know that my mother was manic depressive and that when she got bad because she couldn't our wouldn't take her meds that she would lock me in the basement, burn me with her cigarettes, she even hit me with a lamp once. My older sister never said a word. I did mention that I had one of those didn't I? She just snuck out with her boyfriend every chance she got. I guess if she wasn't there to see it it couldn't be real."
Karyn tried to sit up to no avail as her limbs refused to obey her. "Boo hoo, your homelife sucks. That doesn't give you the right to play God with all women. Be a man."
Mark looked at her. "You think it's just my mom? In fifth grade Sara McMillan use to kick me in the balls and take my lunch money. I tried to tell a teacher but, you guessed it they didnt' believe me. I tried to stand up to her but funny thing about little boys and girls. The girls get bigger first. When I was finally big enough to stand up to her in the 7th grade she got her boyfriend Steve to start in on me while she started to spread rumors that I was a stalker, or that I grabbed girls butts."
Mark sat down on the love seat and looked at Karyn. "I could go on for days. Lets see," he tilted his head back trying to recall "Mellissa from the cheer squad and I had a summer romance then she threatened to post all my love letters online unless I did her homework for month."
Karyn chuckled remembering having read them with John and laughing for hours.
"She posted them after I did her homework and her boyfriends homework. Turns out she and The Moose were dating at the same time she and I were doing, whatever, the hell she calls it. Ginny the nerdy girl from math. She flirted with me until the jocks showed up and ran me up the flag pole. Hell Zoe invited me to the winter formal."
"Why would Zoey do that? She gay. Everybody knows that." Karyn protested.
"I know now. When she was making out in the limo I rented with her girlfriend and told me to shut up and be greatful I kinda put the peices together. So yeah I pulled a little prank. Maybe I was trying to regain some of my lost masculinity. It's not like the women in this town aren't trying to castrate every man they come across why not get a little harmless payback. But, maybe you're right. Maybe I went to far."
Mark held up the stone so Karyn could see it. "I wish that I was unable to use my power because it only lasted for a few days." And with that he snapped his fingers. Karyn held her breath getting ready for the worst but nothing happened. It was a few more seconds before she opened her eyes.
Now I really am sorry that I hit you. I'm also sorry that I kicked you. I mean I'd do it again if it came to it, but I do feel bad about it. So here is what I'm going to do. I'm going release you. I'm going to give you back the stone. And, I'm going to leave town for good. But, first Let me make a few more wishes."
"First, I wish that when I leave this house my dad will regain full custody of me, that he will recieve a job offer far away from the stupid town and it will pay lots of money." He looked down at Karyn and winked. "doesn't hurt to live well now does it?"
"Second I wish that No one will be able to use this stone or anything created by this stone in any iteration to effect myself, my father, or Karyn except me." He sat up grabbing his coat off the love seat and walked over to karyn. "And now I'll give you a little gift as a going away present."
"Lastly I wish that whenever Karyn looked at another girl she would see all the horrible things that they have done and all of the horrible things they have thought about doing or that they are thinking about doing. And I wish that this applied to other realities as well." He gave her a kinda grossed out look. "Yeah I wished earlier to find out what kind of thing I could do to punish you and the stone showed me a few different realities of wishes it granted. I can't believe you made Zoe and John have sex in front of you because you made a bad wish. Just Eww. At any rate I'm going to give you the stone now. Oh before I forget, I wish that she could only give the stone to another female."
As Mark set down the stone Karyn finally started to regain her mobility. Sitting up she got ready to lunge at Mark, but by the time she got to her feet he had already left closing the door behind him. When she opened the door he was no where to be see.
Karyn walked back over to coffee table and grabbed the stone. She took out her phone and called the only person she could think to.
"John I need to talk to you."
