Desperately Zoe pulled the focus coupling line off and the Snatcher input light went out.
"Oh thank goodness," Jon said in relief when the world stopped getting bigger. "Whoa! Zoe, between the height I lost and you gained, you look huge. This is so weird, I'm barely eye level with your waist. How tall are you now?"
Zoe couldn't talk for a moment because she was too busy directing the crash file into a temporary storage buffer. "Phew! I've got it saved, but I have to figure out how to extract it."
"Wait, what?" Jon said nervously as he looked way up at Zoe.
"Sorry Jon. The answer to your question is that I'm five foot four, the same as always. I shunted the snatch file off into a buffer before it output to me."
Looking away from his giant sister and paying attention to the rest of the room made it obvious that where he had thought Zoe had grown, in fact he was actually much shorter than he'd realized. "Holy crap Zoe, how short did you make me?"
"Hmmm, I could probably calculate the differential from the snatch file meta data if I work at it, but let's just do it the easy way." Grabbing a tape measure, Zoe pulled out a length of metal tape and locked it in place so she could stick the end next to Jon's feet and read his head level. "Stand up straight."
"I am standing straight."
"You are theftfv," Zoe mumbled.
"What? Speak clearly!"
"Three foot five," Zoe snickered.
"Ha ha. OK, you've had your laugh, now give me back my height."
"Um ... about that," Zoe prevaricated.
"Zoe!"
"Don't blow a gasket. I've got your height stored off. I just need a little time to fix the glitch. I'll have it fixed by the time Karyn comes back over then we can fix both her boobs and your height at the same time."
"No no no! You fix me before you even think about letting her see me like this," Jon said in a panic.
"Jeez, one little mistake and you're in my face, er ... metaphorically." Zoe was pretty sure she could recover Jon's height file, but there was no way she was going to pass up giving Karyn a little fun first.
