"I don't know, Karyn. Is it safe to mess with the past like this? We're not even skating! Let's head back home." Jon, grasping the stone, made his wish. "I wish me and Karyn would be transported back to the time and place we left."
They each looked away, then noticed that the rink was run-down again. Jon and Karyn returned their skates. The bored attendant asked Karyn, "Didn't you two just get these?"
Karyn grinned. "Yeah, but we just decided we're done. See ya." Jon and Karyn headed out of the rink. "What do you say we continue this at the mall?" Karyn pointed across the street.
"Why not?" Jon answered. They made their way across the parking lot, and entered the mall at the food court.
"Want a coffee?" asked Jon, gesturing toward The Grind.
They stood in line, quietly discussing wishes. "See that guy on the couch over there?" Karyn tried to discretely check out the guy who seemed lost in his phone, but would poke his head up and look around like a prairie dog. She noticed that he stared hard at the pretty brunette who just grabbed her drink and was headed across the hall. It looked like he was going to talk to her, but she completely ignored him. Jon told Karyn, "Check this out."
"I wish," he said, "that the brunette would come sit down with him, and that they'd swap the lower halves of their bodies, not freak out, and return to normal later."
Moments later, Karyn and Jon tried not to stare when she came out of Victoria's Secret and sat down on the couch beside him. It took him a moment to notice that he had company, but was surprised when they hugged.
"Did the already know each other, do you think, or is this because of the wish?" Karyn whispered to Jon.
"I don't know. Should we find out?
