"I don't think I want to give the cheap-ass owners of this place a free remodel," Karyn replied, "but I think I know something lots more fun. Let's go back in time to when this place was new!"
"Hell yeah, Karyn! This'll be awesome!" I held the rock and said, "I wish that Karyn and I would be transported back in time to this spot twenty years ago."
A brief visual flicker later, and it was like someone turned up the volume on the world. The rink was suddenly crowded with teenagers. Everyone seemed to be wearing neon colors. It was almost like half of the kids were wearing either a New Kids on the Block t-shirt or an MC Hammer shirt. The skaters were bopping along to Ice Ice Baby, and the entire rink almost sparkled.
"This is more like it." Karyn took my hand and led me out to join the skaters as the DJ changed tracks, this time to The Humpty Dance. We skated for a few songs, then sat at a table to talk and watch the crowd.
"This is awesome! I can't believe we've gone back in time! What else can we try?" I asked.
Karyn looked around the building. "Ah, I know. Let's take turns messing with people. We'll just see what happens. Hand it here, I'll start."
I carefully placed the stone in Karyn's open hand. I was really nervous about handing it over. She took it and looked around. Nodding towards a group of girls near the lockers, she asked, "See all those teens in the matching outfits?"
Looking closer, I saw what appeared to be a stereotypical gaggle of preppy girls. A blonde girl who looked like a cheerleader, a Latina, an Asian, a brunette, a redhead, and a really skinny blonde. They all wore the same thing - denim skirts with white blouses.
"That ginger girl is almost as flat as the little blonde. I wish her boobs were as big as mine." After the eye twitch, the redheaded girl was as busty as Karyn. She passed the stone back to me. "Your turn!"
