Gwen awoke the next morning to the smell of breakfast wafting up the stairs, which meant that at least someone else in the McMillan household was already up.
“Probably Chardeena,” Gwen mumbled to hirself as shi sat up in hir bed, the silky pink bedsheets slipping off hir. The bedsheets and the room belonged to Sarrah’s brotherelle, Joshelle. Shi looked around the room: it was equally as pink as the bedsheets and extremely boily. It kind of reminded Gwen of hir room back in hir own world, although shi knew that a gurl from this world wouldn’t be caught dead sleeping in a room like this and so shi quickly threw the covers off and got out of bed.
Stretching, shi considered getting dressed but remembered that Sarrah and hir mother had stayed out late, partying after the game. Shi hadn’t thought about getting any fresh clothes from Sarrah’s room. Out of curiosity, shi crossed over to Joshelle’s closet and wistfully looked at the various dresses that hung in there, even though Joshelle had moved out. Gwen took out one of Joshelle’s dresses and hung it up against hir, musing if it would work. Shi sighed, realizing that there was no way that it would fit hir. It was designed for a much larger body than hirs and so it would hang loosely off hir not to mention that there was no room for hir breasts; being designed for a boi, the chest area was completely flat.
Sighing again, Gwen reluctantly put the dress back. Shi looked at the pile of dirty clothes that shi had left on the floor from last night. If shi wanted to get dressed, then it would mean putting on the same clothes as yesterday, including underwear. Gwen shuddered at the thought. In hir own world shi would never have even considered wearing the same clothes as the night before, let alone underwear. Sure, Sarrah might not have given it a second thought, but not Gwen. Reluctantly, shi decided to head downstairs, still wearing the nightshirt and boxers that shi had borrowed from Sarrah.
“Oh! Good morning, Gwen,” Chardeena greeted hir softly after looking up from the stove and noticing hir entry. The smell of pancakes greeted Gwen as shi entered the kitchen. This was a new experience for hir, as back in hir world Suzan never did any cooking. She always left it to the maids to sort out everything, and from what Gwen could deduce so far, there were no maids in this version of the McMillan household. As the househusbenne to a successful scientist, Chardeena was expected to do all the housework by hymself.
“Morning,” Gwen mumbled as shi took a seat at the breakfast table. It was still rather uncomfortable for hir to see hir dad all dressed up like a woman. Even in hys nightwear, Chardeena was still pretty dolled up. Hei wore a lacy silk nightgown in pink that fell short just above hys knees, covered by a matching pink robe. Hys blonde hair, slightly dishevelled, was tucked back behind hys shoulders. Gwen stared at hir father; even for a man, shi had to admit that hei looked like a model.
“No Sarrah?” Gwen asked, looking around the empty table and breaking the silence between them.
Chardeena shook hys head. “It’s Sunday,” hei explained. “Sarrah likes to sleep in on Sundays, so you won’t be seeing hir until late morning.” Gwen nodded. “Also, shi was out pretty late last night with Suzan. They didn’t get back until about midnight.”
“Right,” Gwen acknowledged. That would explain it… Shi had woken up in the middle of the night and had heard a bit of bumping about. That must have been Sarrah. Chardeena put on a pair of pink oven mitts and grabbed a spatula, checking the pancakes on the griddle.
“Okay, the first batch is about done… Gwen, would you like some pancakes?” hei asked.
“Sure!” Chardeena set about dishing up the first plateful to Gwen and then sat down and watched as Gwen dug in.
“Aren’t… you going to have anything?” Gwen asked after shi had taken a couple of mouthfuls and suddenly noticed that Chardeena wasn’t eating anything.
Chardeena shook hys head. “Oh, no. It’s my job to make sure that my family is fed, so I won’t have anything until you gals have eaten.”
“Oh…okay…” Gwen felt bad that Chardeena wasn’t eating, but after making the comment again hei insisted that Gwen carry on eating, which shi did reluctantly.
“This is really good.” Gwen commented in between mouthfuls.
Chardeena beamed. “Really? Suzan and Sarrah are always telling me how good my cooking is, but it’s nice to hear it from an outsider. Especially from someone who isn’t used to a boi cooking.”
Gwen swallowed another mouthful. “Neither of my parents cooked,” shi explained. Chardeena’s eyes grew wide with shock. “My mom Suzan always left it for the maids to sort out.” The look on Chardeena’s face encouraged Gwen to keep explaining. “They’re always away on business trips and the like… They’re never around the house.”
“You poor thing,” Chardeena cooed softly, reaching out a hand to place on Gwen’s arm. “So you’ve been left to your own devices most of the time?” Gwen nodded. “That must be hard…I can only imagine what it would be like if you were a boi.”
“I’ve had Biff though—Baylie,” shi corrected after seeing a look of confusion on Chardeena’s face. “So you don’t work at all?” Gwen asked, deciding to change the subject.
Chardeena shook hys head. “I used to be a model before I got married, but once Suzan and I tied the knot, I became a full-time househusbenne.”
“But why?” Gwen asked, slightly perplexed. “Even I can tell that you still have the looks for being a model.” At least bois don’t have the disadvantage of pregnancy ruining their bodies, Gwen thought to hirself as Chardeena blushed and smiled at Gwen’s compliment.
Hei removed hys hand from Gwen’s arm and placed it across hys chest. “It’s sweet of you to say, and it’s always nice to hear a compliment, but it’s just how our world works. Once married a boi is expected to quit hys job and become a househusbenne. After all, who else is going to look after the house?”
Now it was Gwen’s turn to stare in disbelief. Shi couldn’t get over the idea that bois became solely househusbennes after marriage. Didn’t they get bored? It wouldn’t appear so. Bois in this world seemed to live for becoming a househusbenne. Gwen was about to say something when they were interrupted by the arrival of another McMillan.
“Good morning honey!” Chardeena greeted hys wife cheerfully, quickly standing up and moving over to give Suzan a quick peck on the lips.
“Morning,” Suzan replied, apparently unsatisfied by Chardeena’s peck as shi grabbed hym around the waist and gave hym a full kiss on the lips. Chardeena gave a deep giggle and blushed again as hei gently pushed Suzan away.
“Not in front of Gwen, honey,” hei childed hir, reminding hys wife of their guest before hei returned to the stove and got another batch of hys pancakes ready.
“Sorry, Gwen,” Suzan apologized, chuckling a little as shi poured hirself a mug of coffee and sat down unfolding the newspaper in front of hir.
Gwen, almost finished with hir plateful, actually smiled. “It’s okay!” It was nice seeing that there was still a romantic spark between hir parents, even if their roles were reversed.
“I see that you’ve had some of Chardeena’s famous pancakes,” Suzan commented, glancing briefly over the top of hir paper.
“Oh yes, they’re amazing!” shi replied, vigorously nodding hir head. “Some of the best pancakes that I’ve ever had.” And shi meant it. Feeling stuffed, shi put hir knife and fork down and pushed the plate towards the middle of the table just as Chardeena served Suzan hir plate.
Hei looked at Gwen’s plate with three uneaten pancakes left sitting on it and frowned.
“Is something wrong?” hei asked.
Gwen looked confused for a moment before shaking hir head.
“Oh no… Everything’s fine. It was delicious!” shi explained hurriedly. “It’s just that I’m full and it was a rather large plateful. I’m not used to eating so much. You see… In my world, I’m the one that’s usually on a diet, not bois.”
At this Chardeena looked shocked and put a hand up to cover hys mouth. “Oh Gwen, I’m so sorry…. I should have thought about that. It’s just that I’m used to Sarrah and Suzan eating so much, especially Sarrah as an athlete, and I forget that you’re essentially a boi. I should have been more considerate.”
“It’s fine, Chardeena,” Gwen replied, trying to reassure hir father who looked to be on the verge of tears. “Like I said, they were amazing pancakes, I’ve just never eaten so much before.” Suzan sighed and put hir paper down before pulling Chardeena into a comforting embrace. Shi looked like shi had been through this sort of thing before.
“Are you sure?” Chardeena asked through sniffs. Gwen nodded and, after a few reassuring words from Suzan and a rub of hys back, Chardeena calmed down and stopped sniffing. Gwen took this as hir cue to excuse hirself from the table and retreated into the living room while shi waited for Sarrah to finally wake up.
