"Like you don't already know," Karyn chided her friend, "It's a strip club."
"Pardon?"
"You heard me, jack-ass, a strip club. You know, lights, pole, stage, CUSTOMERS!"
"Like, in your bedroom?"
"Yes, in my bedroom," Karyn was really starting to sound upset now, "There's a door you can get in from the outside now. There's even a bouncer named Bubba out there."
"Karyn, you've got to believe me. I didn't do anything. My room's changed too; I mean, not as bad as yours, but now it looks like a teenage girl lives here."
Karyn was silent on the other end. Jon could hear the thumping bass of the sound system in her room through the phone. After a few minutes she said, "You swear you didn't do this?"
"I swear."
"Jon, I'm coming over. If you didn't do this, someone else did. We need to figure this out."
Her logic was sound, so he agreed. He even asked his mother is she could spend the night sleeping on their couch. A strip club for a bedroom didn't sound like the kind of place a girl could get a decent night's sleep. What worried, him, though, wasn't Karyn's nocturnal patterns, but rather the fear that someone out there had a powerful magical device of some sort, just like he did. Someone who was messing with him.
