But Karyn wasn't paying attention to Jon. "I wish," she began in a soft whisper that only Jon could hear, "I wish that until I wish otherwise, the name Jon is a girl's name." Winking, she watched Jon frown at this, but now it was more of a cute moue. The previous wish had plopped them into the minivan fully dressed and ready. For Karyn this was just a place change, but Jon had yet to see himself, or herself, beyond realizing that he seemed to be female and was dressed as such. He didn't actually know what he looked like. In fact, folded up all the way back in the rear jump seats together, Jon didn't even know how tall he was or wasn't. "This is really going to be fun," Karyn blurted excitedly.
"I hope so dear," Jon's mother called back, "but the last time we took Jon out with us, she was a major stick in the mud. We couldn't get her to do much beyond mope and complain. You're her best friend, so I'm hoping you can get her to participate a little."
"Oh I think things will be much different this time," Karyn said with a grin as she looked Jon in the eye. "I think a little encouragement from us will work wonders."
"I wish that were true hon, but don't get your hopes up."
With a gleam in her eye, Karyn quietly said, "I wish Jon would be obligated to acquiesce to whatever a majority of us want him, er her, to do."
"Noooooo ..." Jon silently mouthed to Karyn.
