"Mr. Gibson," Jon heard a voice say. It was faint and barely there, but he did hear it nonetheless. "Mr. Gibson, wake up."
Was he sleeping? Why was he asleep? He had school to get to. He and Karyn had to ...
Suddenly, his eyes flew open. He looked up and saw Mr. Sheppard (the assistant principal). He was shaking Jon awake.
Jon tried to get up, but his head was throbbing. Why did his head hurt so much? But then remembered. Biff! That son of a bitch! He was trying to have his way with Karyn and then he slugged Jon in the face! How long was he out?
"Try not to move, son. Your nose is bleeding."
"Where ... where's Biff and Karyn?"
"Biff?"
"Yeah, Biff Meadows. How many Biffs are there?"
"I know you've been hurt badly, but there's no reason to be snappy towards me."
"Sorry. It's just ... I have to find them ... and ..." He trailed, remembering the wishing stone. Where was it? Did Biff take it? He remembered losing his grip on it after Biff shoved him. Jon tried to turn and look around at where he fell, but it was very painful.
"Are you looking for something?"

"Well, let's get you to the nurse's office first, then we'll go look for your friends."
"Biff's not my friend," Jon said, as Mr. Sheppard helped him to his feet. "He's the one that hit me! Karyn is the one that's my ..." He trailed, wondering if she was okay. He hated to think of what Biff was doing to her right at this moment. Karyn may be enjoying whatever it was, but that was only because she was wished to feel that way.
"Okay, Mr. Gibson. Let's go. Don't worry about your friend Karyn. We'll look for her."
And he helped Jon into the school.
