Jon nearly collided with Biff Meadows, the school's star quarterback and Sarah McMillan's boyfriend. But Jon didn't recognize him as Biff right away.
Instead of the usual varsity jacket and jeans, Biff was wearing a grey pencil skirt, a low cut, silky red blouse, black tights and red pumps. His face was immaculately made-up, with red lipstick and a hint of blush, and he had pearl earrings and a matching pearl necklace. Jon had seen similar outfits on Ms. Reynolds, one of the younger teachers in the school. Most of the boys seemed to have a hopeless crush on her, in part because of how she dressed compared to some of the older teachers.
Jon could only gawk at the sight of the school's biggest jock dressed like the school's hottest teacher. Biff looked at him.
"You okay Jon?" Biff asked in a strangely caring voice. "You took that corner pretty quickly. Where are you off to in such a hurry?"
"Uh, I.. uh," Jon could only stammer.
"Right. Do you have a hall pass?" Jon just shook his head, and Biff sighed. "You know the rules, Jon. I'm afraid I'll have to take you to the office." Biff put a well-manicured hand on Jon's back and began to guide him to the office. Jon was too astounded to resist. What had happened to Biff? What had happened to Ms. Reynolds? It must have been the stone's doing, but if that was the case, why had Jon noticed the changes? Just who had the stone?
