Jon hurried to class.
He'd been so distracted by the Stone yesterday that he'd almost completely forgotten about the big math test that he had this afternoon.
He'd briefly considered just wishing to know everything required to pass it, but his sense of fair play had kicked in at the last moment, and he'd been up nearly all night studying.
Unfortunately he'd lost track of time during some some last minute revision and now had to run if he wanted any chance of not being late. He breathed a sigh of relief as he finally arrived at the classroom doors. They hadn't started yet - he'd probably only get a glare from Mr. Halloran.
With his hand on the door handle, Jon instinctively reached into his pocket to turn his phone to silent.
He froze.
The Stone wasn't in there.
Chills of horror ran across his body as he desperately searched in his pockets and bag for the Stone, but he already knew that he wouldn't find it - he must have dropped it earlier.
What should he do now?
