Ok, I told myself, perched on the bank of the underground river. You can do this. Just start from the bottom and look up. I opened my eyes.

The first thing I noticed was that the water seemed farther away than I remembered. Perhaps I was taller. And I definitely had a woman's shape. At least, close enough to be recognizable as a woman. The proportions were off. I was extremely leggy. My legs terminated in two small, dainty, feet with three, slender, webbed toes, presumably helpful for swimming. I was definitely a water creature now. My legs then progressed upward to slender calves, then to tremendous thighs. While smooth and feminine in appearance, they had more length and width in proportion to my body than they would in a...human woman. My crotch was smooth and hairless between wide hips that complemented my thighs. I tried not to look too long at the slit that sat in between them.

Just above where my thighs joined my hips began one of the more noticeable, and weirder, parts of my new anatomy. From above each joint of my pelvis sprouted two huge, fan like fins with that dazzling dark pink/violet pattern sparkling even in this dim light. They fell almost to my ankles, looking absurdly like a biological skirt. Above stood an inward sloping waist and muscular abdominals that gave me a subtle and disturbingly attractive six pack. Above that, in odd contrast to my otherwise full-bodied appearance, two rather prominent ribs protruded from my rib cage, with strange slits in between them. Gills I somehow knew. Could I breathe underwater?

A pair of full, shapely breasts hung above my gills. Despite their heaviness they hung high on my chest, and seemed impervious to sag. Perhaps it was the stiff, rubbery skin that covered them offering support. Still, I felt ridiculous with them hanging off my chest. I looked like some bizarre cartoon character. What point was their to breasts on an amphibian? They didn't even have nipples! And I was pink. Who the hell's idea was it to make me pink!

Ok Jon, calm down. Just get this over with. There was no point in obsessing over this more. You'd think the last few days would have gotten the shock out of my system.

Above...my...breasts, my slender shoulders sloped into femininely muscular arms. Another set of long, fan-like fins protruded from my arms, starting from my elbows and progressing to my thin, dainty wrists. Past that those dainty wrists hung small, lady-like hands with elegant, but too long fingers.

Above a thin neck, I saw my face...which I honestly couldn't make out very well in the water. I supposed I'd need a mirror. But I could make out too large, blue eyes that contrasted sharply with my pink skin. And my head felt...weird. Above where my eyebrows should have been it fanned out into an alien like half saucer which protruded a good many inches past where my skull should have ended. It, like the rest of my body, was totally hairless.

I stood there staring at myself for some time, taking long, controlled breaths to avoid hyper-ventilating. Finally, I started to just feel numb. The reflection certainly didn't look like me. It didn't even look like a real person. So as long as I didn't look down, it was like that wasn't me. Please.

I had to stop looking. I closed my eyes, counted to three, and thought about what to do next.
