Well, as a newcomer to these parts, I'm pretty sure I've added to your pain more than a few times, and I apologize for that.
I pretty much write whatever sounds interesting to me, which can change from time to time. This means I really have no set pattern, at least not to my mind. Sometimes, I do just write a throwaway or episodic TF. Admittedly, I do dabble in character death (though I don't exactly follow the theory of "identity death" that seems to be so popular among TF writers these days). Other times, I jump in after the TF is already finished. I fool around with genres, character interaction, world-building, etc. There are even times I experiment with stuff that holds no appeal to me at all.
I guess I just write out of curiosity. Usually, I don't expect people to continue my stuff, so it's a bit of a surprise when they do.
Okay, enough about me. I think that this site is just experiencing a generational shift. The "Generation X" of interactive writing is now encountering the "Millennials," and age really isn't a necessary factor. The general values aren't vanishing, just shifting around a bit.
Does that make sense?
