"Why are you doing this?" I asked the stone. It had been flashing brightly for about the last half hour, despite the fact that I wasn't using it. I sighed. "It must be a reaction. This has never happened before, so it needs to be my proximity to the wishing stone."
I looked around, realising that I had been speaking aloud. Luckily, no one was around, to hear me. "Alright, this just means I'm close. Gotta keep looking."
I shoved the stone into my pocket and began walking again. The entire time I was paranoid that someone would point me out, that someone would see the stone flashing in my pocket. I shook these thoughts away. Even if someone could see it, I could easily get away from them.
After about twenty minutes, I felt a slight vibration from my pocket. I pulled out the stone, feeling it shake in my hand. "This can't be good..." I said. I looked around, knowing that the stone had to be close by.
That was when I saw them. Three people leaving a house. This wouldn't be worth noting, normally, but something seemed off. One of them, the man, looked...anxious. Like he was in a rush. At the same time, the two women seemed like they were in a daze. The younger one seemed to shake it off as she walked away, but the older one still seemed off.
"He has to be the one." I said. "And it seems like he's already using the stone for evil." I would have been lying to myself if I had said I wasn't disappointed. I had hoped whoever had the stone would be a good person, who would use it for the better of mankind.
Looking around, I found a steel pipe on the ground. I picked it up and used the stone to transform it into a sword. While not being very long, it would get the job done. "I'm sorry, but you're obviously not worthy of having the power of the wishing stone." I said. "And I'll kill you if I need to."
