"Hey, check out that cute guy over there," Jill suddenly said, nodding towards the food court. "Man, I wish I was dating him. With a body like that ..."
Suddenly, a flash of light emanated from my purse. Was that the wishing rock? But I hadn't made a wish.
The guy in the food court approached them, smiling as he walked. "Hey, Jill," he said.
"You know her?" I asked.
"Of course. She is my girlfriend. Isn't that right, baby?" he asked Jill, smiling.
"I must have told you about Will, Natalie. I'm sure I did."
What was happening? I was absolutely sure that I hadn't made a wish, but things were unfolding as if I had. Jill had said that wanted to date that guy, and then suddenly she was.
But then I realized. Jill had said "I wish" before she said what she said. Could that have done it? It couldn't have - she wasn't touching the wishing rock.
But then I realized something else. Earlier, I had wished that whatever Jill wished for would come true. I only meant that the wish that she was making at that moment would come true. But instead, every wish she made was coming true.
"I wish we could get married, Will. Then ..."
Suddenly, there was another flash of light. Oh no! This is never going to end! I thought.
Jill turned towards me, smiling. "Look." She held out her hand, showing me her engagement ring. "Will just proposed to me."
"I want to spend the rest of my life with you," Will said to Jill.
