Zoe heaved a quick sigh of relief, dumping her backpack onto her bed. Damn, I'm good. She didn't ask again, or even notice the backpack. She plopped down onto the bed next to it, resting her aching shoulder. The library wasn't that far away but those books were heavy.
Suddenly she noticed a familiar black-cloaked figure sitting on the bed next to her. "Agh! Don't DO that!" she exclaimed, jumping up so as to properly glare. "That's really creepy, you know."
Did you learn anything? She thought she might have imagined the slight movement of her mentor's head.
"What's this for, anyway? Shouldn't you look it up?" Zoe pressed.
Her mentor did incline her head this time. Don't you want to help Violet?
She deflated quickly; as much as she hated not knowing what was going on, her mentor had a much better chance of reversing the curse, if it were even possible, than she did. "Of course I do. Here's what I learned." She paused, and her mentor inclined her head once again, jingling softly. "Absolutely nothing. There are about a million different myths and a million more interpretations of every single one. I brought the biggest books home, and I'll look through them after I get some sleep."
I suspect this is a lot deeper than you and I originally thought. It's not just a matter of reversing the curse.
"It isn't? Why not?" she asked, incredulous. "Is this why we're looking up the Sidhe? How will I know what I see when I see it?"
Her mentor sighed audibly and turned to face her, speaking without removing the bandana covering her mouth. Zoe had to strain to hear it. "I've explained the Tapestry to you, right?"
