Jon entered his house and quickly walked up to his room. He passed his sister's room, able to hear her music coming from behind the closed door. He shook his head slightly, but payed it no further mind. At least she closes the door when she blares her music. he thought to himself.
He entered his room and closed the door behind him. He tossed his backpack onto the floor and removed his shoes. He then removed the stone from his pocket and sat on his bed.
He had been giving the stone more thought since his meeting with Karyn. He held nothing against her for her foolish wish. Anyone could make a mistake, and luckily for them, the mistake had been fairly harmless. Though, the changes instilled in Karyn had reminded Jon fully of the limitations of the stone. She would be stuck like that for the rest of her life.
Jon wondered why an object with such power, the ability to rewrite reality itself, was unable to undo the changes it caused. To Jon, it made very little sense. Not only that, but, according to his grandfathers note, it also had a limit in range. Finally, he decided to take the easiest route and use the stone to discover the reason.
"I wish to know why the stone is unable to reverse changes and why it's range is limited." Jon said to himself. The stone flashed brightly, but nothing else happened. Jon stared at the stone curiously. "Why didn't that work?" he asked himself. "I wish to know why that wish didn't work." Jon said. Once again, the stone flashed, though this time information flooded into Jon's brain.
"The first owner of the stone wished no one could learn about the limitations through a wish?" Jon asked himself, bewildered by the thought. "Why would someone wish that?"
He sat there, staring at the stone for a few minutes. Finally, he stood from his bed. "I'm going to get to the bottom of this, one way or another. I wish that the first owner of the stone would be transported here, able to speak perfect english." Jon said. The stone glowed brightly, forcing him to close his eyes.
After a moment, he opened his eyes and looked upon the first owner of the stone...
