Seeing as though Jon had a big problem, he went straight to Karyn's house to tell her all about it.
"Why is it orange?" Karyn asked.
"There was this sparkly stuff," Jon began to explain.
"What sparkly stuff?" she asked.
"That's why I stopped my car there. It came down out of the sky and the stone just flew out of my pocket and ..." Jon pulled the stone's box out of his pocket. "See?" He held it up, showing Karyn that there was a hole in the side of it, indicating that the stone shot right through it.
"Okay. Then what happened?" she asked.
"It flew into that sparkly stuff, then it changed color. I picked it up and made a test wish, to see if it still worked. I mean, it was orange instead of its usual color. I just wanted to know if it still worked. And it did. But it also burned my clothes." He pointed to his singed shirt.
Karyn picked up the orange stone and looked at it. The stone wasn't painted orange. It actually was orange. Whatever that sparkly stuff was, it completely changed the properties of the stone, both physically and functionally.
"So, what should we do?" Jon asked.
