Jon stared at his mom for a moment in deep confusion as he blinked rapidly. "Uh, I'm fine mo-Linda. I just, uh.... need to use the washroom!" The honey smooth voice that spilled from his lips increased his suspicions of what happened. Linda Gibson just nodded slightly, before giving an understanding smile. She'd been confused when her coworker, Ruby Drake, had trailed off mid conversation, but now figured the younger woman had likely been struck by her time of the month and simply needed to apply a tampon or pad. As quickly as he could on unsteady heels, he made his way upstairs like he was heading for the bathroom, but once out of sight he ducked into his own room, luckily finding the stone laying on the ground where he'd dropped it when he turned into a ghost.
Jon snatched up the stone and then went to the bathroom for real; staring back at him in the mirror was what he'd feared, the same pretty junior lawyer he'd been observing his mom talk to. Jon looked at the stone in his new smaller hands, muttering, "how does turning me into a ghost then turning me into my mother's subordinate help me fit in better with my friends?" He was a woman now, sure, and wouldn't be excluded from gendered activities, but he was also a complete stranger to them. Jon thought about trying to unwish the wish, but remembered the trouble with direct reversals they'd discovered with Karyn's errant wish. What he needed was information.
"I wish I knew exactly HOW the stone granted my previous wish."
