Jon turned away from the glass door that looked out over his back yard. He'd just watched as Sarah, the former cheerleading captain of his high school trotted into her brand new kennel very solemnly. Jon felt a pang of regret as he watched this woman-turned-freakish-monster realize the situation that she now found herself in. He found himself lost in thought, wondering if it was the right thing to do. Before it was just a prank, something Jon could undo with a phrase, but now it was very much more permanent and real.
Jon pushed those thoughts out of his head as he left his house and walked over to Karyn's place. He wanted to bury the hatchet with her before their friendship was destroyed forever. He couldn't figure out how he was going to do it however, she was quite adamant about Sarah, maybe the fact that it was permanent and Jon put Nikita in Sarah's place would be enough to make up, in her eyes, what he'd done.
Jon walked up the footpath to the Black residence and knocked on the door; however, mid knock the door swung open and revealed a very overjoyed Karyn. She threw herself into Jon's arms and gave him a firm hug.
"Oh I knew you wouldn't do it", Karyn said cheerfully, "You're not an evil bastard like that"
Jon was not sure how to react; he tentatively wrapped his arms around Karyn and returned the hug, but still needed to know what was going on. Karyn broke contact and looked at Jon square in his eyes.
"I just saw Nikita walking off", Karyn continued, "She looked perfectly fine, you didn't go through with punishing her after all"
"Nikita?" Jon asked, confused. Then he realized what had happened.
Jon had specifically wished the Nikita took the place of Sarah in all her friends' memories, which meant that everything that Karyn remembered happening to Sarah, had actually happened to Nikita in her eyes. So when Jon and Karyn went for a walk in the park, it was Nikita who Jon swapped bodies with, not Sarah. As far as Karyn knew, Sarah had always been the Gibson's family pet.
Jon didn't know what to do, he was very ambivalent on the situation, and mainly the girl that he had a crush on wasn't harbouring any resentment to him, and in fact seemed to consider Jon to be a better man then she thought. But he was also guilty over effectively lying to Karyn if he kept covering up the truth. Jon decided to remain silent for the moment and gauge Karyn's reactions before he said anything further on the matter.
Karyn grabbed Jon by the hand and led him away from her house, pulling the door shut behind her, "So, let's get me back to normal, shall we?" Karyn suggested.
The two of them walked back to the Gibson house, hand in hand, Jon listened quietly as Karyn seemed to ramble on, giving Jon clues as to what had changed in this new reality. Nothing much was out of place, even the wish for long blonde hair and big breasts was there, although the situation had changed somewhat.
"I can't believe I thought hair like Nikita's was going to help make me popular", Karyn scoffed as they walked; "I mean It's not even blonde, why'd I chose that of all colours? Wavy brown hair seems to be the popular choice at school. Maybe when I get back to normal I should dye my hair brown for a while, just to see what it's like"
Jon nodded and listened as they continued back into Jon's house. The two of them sat down at the living room table and discussed how they could get back to normal. However, in the midst of their discussions, Jon and Karyn were interrupted by a white and blonde blur that zipped past them and stopped in front of Karyn it was Sarah.
"Karyn", Sarah cried out, "Please for God's sake, help me!"
Karyn reached down and looked at Sarah intently, for a moment Sarah thought that Karyn was going to do something, her eyes widened in hope as Karyn reached down with her hand towards Sarah.
Oh God, she knows its me, Sarah thought.
However, her heart sank when Karyn's hand made it under her chin instead and started stroking, "Whose a good little girl, eh Sarah? Whose a good little girl", Karyn cooed as she stroked what she thought was a German Sheppard's chin.
Jon looked at Sarah and could see how crestfallen she was. Jon considered listening in on Sarah's whimpering but figured it really wasn't worth it. Since Karyn wasn't concentrating on Sarah's barks, Jon figured Sarah wasn't able to tell Karyn a thing anyway.
Why would she? She didn't know she could hear Sarah in the first place, Jon thought to himself with a smirk.
Sarah backed away from Karyn slowly and headed back to the other room, trotting very quietly on her legs. The two humans in the room just watched the dog-girl depart.
"Boy, she's upset Jon", Karyn said, "Did you lock her outside again? Seriously Jon-boy, you gotta stop doing that"
Jon shrugged, "Ok whatever", Karyn was slightly annoyed at the brush off, "What do we do about your hair and rack?"
"I don't know", Karyn replied, "I'm sure we'll think of something"
"Well, I think you should keep the rack, that's for sure", Jon said with an evil smile, "But I'm not so sure about the hair, straight doesn't suit you"
Karyn felt very self-conscious at Jon's remark about her breasts and covered them with her now-crossed arms, "Shuddup or I'll wish you had a pair to play with, pervert", she stuck her tongue out.
The two of them broke up into laughter as they got started planning their way out of Karyn's mess.
After a lot of effort, Sarah had managed to get through the back door and into the house again, only to find that Karyn was completely unfamiliar with Sarah. She realized that Jon was telling the truth when he said that she was a pet as far as everyone else was concerned. While she was obviously discouraged, Sarah was determined to find a way to get herself back to normal.
Sarah paced back and forth in the unfamiliar "family" kitchen as she tried to think. Jon had to keep the magic stone that did this somewhere in the house, she just had to find where. Sarah did pick up enough of the discussion between Jon and Karyn to know that the wishes he made to her couldn't be reversed, especially since it seems Karyn was in a similar situation to Sarah.
When Sarah overheard the comment about Karyn being jealous of Sarah's looks, not to mention wishing for carbon copies of her best assets, Sarah couldn't help but feel proud that she made men AND women jealous of her looks. Sarah also was a lot smarter then she let herself on to be, she knew the perfect way to get her real body back again, she was going to duplicate Jon's swapping power and take a body from her fake sister, Nikita The one Jon installed in everyone's mind as the real Sarah.
Sarah figured out that the best place to look was Jon's room again, he would keep his most precious possessions there, all boys did. Sarah had gotten to Biffs' stash on more then one occasion to know that. The thought of Biff made Sarah's heart race, she missed her boyfriend, he was always there for her, but the idea of Nikita having Biff instead of her just made Sarah more determined to get back to normal.
Sarah crept around the corner of the kitchen and headed upstairs quietly, as to not make a sound. She turned back and through the railing could see Jon and Karyn still sitting at the living room table discussing how to get back to normal. Sarah continued upstairs and crept past the various bedrooms, with a quick glance into each to make sure that no-one was there looking for her.
Finally sure that there was no-one about, Sarah snuck into Jon's room, pushing the door open with her paw. Sarah made short work of exploring the entire room, trying to find anything out of place that may signify where Jon was keeping the stone, she managed to pull his drawers open and look around, she did see a useless stone in the top shelf, but disregarded it and moved on. Eventually, completely frustrated with the search, Sarah gave up and collapsed against the bed, panting.
Where the hell is the damned thing? , Sarah cursed to herself; It's GOT to be in here somewhere!
She heard footsteps coming up the stairs outside, frantically looking around; she decided to hide under Jon's bed. Staying as far under the bed as possible, she managed to partially bury herself in the dirty clothes Jon left under there, a disgusting concept but it did seem to keep her better hidden.
She watched as a pair of feet walked into the room from the doorway, the strolled over to near Jon's desk. There was the sound of rattling around, stone on wood, and then the rattling stopped. The feet turned around and walked out of the room again.
Sarah realized that it was Jon; he'd just gotten the stone. Sarah climbed out from under the bed, shaking the clothes off her body and carefully crept out to the door, peering out the doorway, she saw that the coast was clear and quickly made her way to the staircase and downstairs again. On her way down, she could see Karyn's hair and chest make a sudden change. Her breasts were shrinking and her hair was getting shorter and changing colour! Jon had the rock and just made a wish.
Sarah walked into the living room, trying to look nonchalant, seeing if she could eye out the stone. However, she couldn't see it anywhere, Karyn and Jon were both watching her, and Jon seemed to have a smirk on the corner of his lips as he stared her down.
"She's after something, Jon-boy", Karyn observed, "Have you fed her today?"
Jon smiled, "Yea, I did this morning, I think she's after something a little more precious then that"
"A scratch behind the ears?" Karyn suggested.
Jon leaned towards Sarah, his smile never wavering, "I think that may be it. Come here girl, Jonny give you a scratch"
Sarah had lost her chance, she'd made a mistake and now she couldn't find the rock again. Despite the fact that it was sitting on the tabletop in plain sight of her, she couldn't see it for what it really was. There wasn't anything else Sarah could do now; she had to think of another plan, and one that involved getting as far away from Jon as possible. Through the corner of her eye, Sarah could see that the front door was slightly ajar; Jon and Karyn hadn't closed it properly when they returned, so Sarah took a chance.
Sarah bolted for the door, skidding on all fours to a stop just in front of it long enough to force the door to swing wide open, giving Sarah a chance to escape.
"Sarah, No!" Jon cried out after her, it a tone that sounded not just like he was angry, but more concerned too.
"Heel girl, Heel!", Karyn called as the two of them got up the couch to stop her.
Sarah wasn't going to wait and nor was she going to listen to Karyn condescend to her, she was out the door faster then they could even get up from the lounge. Karyn and Jon made it as far as the doorway before they realized how far away Sarah was, and was still running.
"Dammit Jon", Karyn said, putting her hand on my shoulder, "I'm sorry"
Jon put his hand on hers, "Don't worry, I'm sure she'll be back"
"Should we use the rock maybe? Bring her back here?" Karyn suggested.
"No. I think she'll come back on her own", Jon replied, "All dogs do, you know. It's her home after all"
