Athena didn't know what Karyn was talking about, but it didn't matter. Jon had said that he didn't want Karyn up in his bedroom, so Athena made it her mission to stop her. Up the stairs she bounded after the blonde girl, down the hall she sprinted. At the doorway to his bedroom Athena threw herself at Karyn, tackling her, bringing her to the floor.
Victory! Sure, Karyn struggled beneath her, but Athena knew that she'd done right by her Jon. Her Jon? That was one way of looking at their relationship. She knew, though, deep down, the he wasn't hers, but that she was his.
"Good job, Athena!" Jon said, coming down the hallway, "Now wait here."
As he stepped over her, passing into his bedroom, she felt her heart flutter, her breath quicken. Just being close to him was exciting. She saw that one of his shoes had become untied and wondered if she would be allowed to tie it later.
Karyn's struggling increased as Jon closed the door to the bedroom, so Athena held her tighter. Downstairs, the former goth could hear Zoe calling out saying that she was leaving for school, then heard the door close, leaving the two girls alone in the hallway waiting for Jon to return.
"He's done something to you!" Karyn said, "Can't you see it?"
"I don't know what you're talking about," Athena replied, "But if Jon's done something to me, that's fine by me!"
"Don't you..." Karyn began, but was cut off by a bright flash of light below the doorway.
Both girls paused for a second... what had they been talking about? Then it came to Athena.
"And that, Karyn, is how you catch a purse-snatcher!"
Karyn giggled, "Athena! I was just joking you know, you didn't have to tackle me!"
The door opened and Jon stepped out. Athena saw that he was holding some sort of rock in his hand, a smooth thing, just big enough for him to palm.
"Alright girls, ready for school?"
"Yes sir!" they said in unison, leaping to their feet, ready for another day of learning with their Jon.
