Pushing away the negative thoughts swirling about in her head, Misty exited the room. Making a beeline for the pool, she could already see Gyarados focusing on her.
"I'm not going to let you get the best of me." Misty announced and was met with an eye roll from the water/dragon pokemon. Leave it to him to be her greatest challenge so far. No matter. Even without a pokeball or really any pokemon to protect her, she could handle this.
"Gyara." Gyarados announced and swam closer to the edge of the pool. So Misty carefully walked around him. Simple as that. Grabbing hold of what remained of the food, she got to feeding the rest of the pokemon. Ignoring the glare Gyarados was giving her, it was actually a cinch. A far cry from what happened earlier.
"Is there anything else that can be done here?" Misty called out and waited a moment for a response back from one of her sisters. When she got none, the gym leader made a beeline for her room. Closing the door, she took a moment to compose herself. The challengers would soon arrive, so she needed to be on top of her game. "I can do this."
