Heading for the pharmacy, Carla got her thoughts back in order. While that wasn't the news she wanted to hear here, it was a necessary evil. Those were both things that she needed to have going forward at the Nursing Home. Thankfully, the pharmacy was not that far from the room where she got checked out. And it was open no less.
"I was a given a prescription, on top of glasses and a new set of hearing aids." Carla greeted and wait a moment for one of the pharmacists to notice her. Handing the slip over, she felt a hand grab hold. Pulling her into the pharmacy, she was led over to a wall of glasses. Beside it, a strange device hung from the ceiling. Looking like a periscope, Carla walked over and looked through.
"Tell me when everything is clear." the pharmacist explained and Carla flashed a thumbs-up in their general direction. Staring through, it felt like forever before things finally came clear for the grandmother. Had the pharmacist made a mistake, or were her eyes really that bad? Could honestly be both, now that she thought about it.
"It's clear now." Carla announced and pulled her head out of the device. Focusing on the pharmacist, they came back with a pair of cats-eye glasses. Retro and a far cry from the glasses that were no doubt available outside of here, Carla could appreciate their charm. Getting handed them, she slipped them onto her head. But instead of clarity, everything looked blurry.
"It'll take some time for your eyes to adjust. Give it some time." the pharmacist explained and Carla reluctantly nodded. By no mean ideal, this was just one more layer to her persona. Getting led onward, Carla was sat down at a table. A pair of hearing aids similar to the ones she was currently wearing had been placed in front of her. Somehow even bulkier, they called out to the grandmother. Feeling the pharmacist pull her old set out, silence fell over the room. Lasting just a second, Carla savored it. Up until her new hearing aids were in, of course.
"All that's left is my prescription, correct?" Carla inquired, her voice sounding even louder to her. Probably the result of these new hearing aids than anything else. Getting what she assumed to be a nod from the pharmacist, the grandmother watched them fill her prescription up.
"Here you go, Ms Davis. Remember to take one a day." the pharmacist explained and led Carla to the front of the pharmacy. Giving them a wave, her gaze shifted to the hallway ahead. Part of her wanted to go and see Elizabeth, but she had just been through a lot. Perhaps it would be best to go back to her room and rest?
Does Carla go and see Elizabeth?
