Tempted as she was to just back out, Carla knew better. She hadn't intended to become an old lady, but that was just what fate decided it would be for her.
"I'll stay an elderly woman." Carla explained and watched her daughter's expression shift. Had that not been the answer she had been expecting to hear? That had to be it.
"Are you sure? We can possibl-" May started and watched Carol shake her head. Letting out a deep breath, she flashed the elderly mother a smile. "Okay. But you're going to need trust me going forward? Am I clear, grandma?"
Carla nodded, very much catching that 'Grandma' comment. But she let it slid for now. She would probably be called that a lot going forward. Among many other things.
"Let's get started then." she explained and got up from the chair. Heading for the kitchen, a snack was very much in order. Didn't really matter what, just something to help with her appetite.
