The walk from the airport to Littleroot Town was relatively peaceful for Ash and May. Tempted as the trainer was to ask his long-time companion what she had in mind for him, he decided to bite his tongue for now. No real use in asking until they got to May's home.
"How are you doing?" Ash inquired, May's gaze swiveling over to him. Letting out a chuckle, time was taken for the coordinator to compose herself.
"Pretty good. How about you?" she answered and watched Ash look away. Where could he even begin with her? The odd feelings swirling about in his head? The way all those losses felt? Or the constant dread that hung over to anything related to being a pokemon trainer.
Letting out a deep breath, he composed his thoughts.
"I've been better." Ash answered and looked to the ground. Even as their destination came into view, these feelings threatened to swallow him up. May gave a nod, carefully grabbing hold of the trainer's hand. Pulling him into the house, a sense of peace came over him. Maybe things would turn out okay.
What did May have in mind for Ash?
