Thankfully, getting checked into the hospital was a relative cinch for the couple. They had expected to be waiting quite a while in order to get in, which made this the perfect surprise.
"Are you ready to bring a little bundle of joy into the world?" the doctor announced and Carol nodded. The pair found themselves led further into a hallway. White tiles covered the floor, while brown felt covered the walls. By no means either woman's pick for a place like this, it did the job nicely.
"Yep." Carol answered and looked down to her stomach. Hopefully the little one within her wouldn't attempt to make this difficult. Just the fact that they were even here was the result of many advancements in science and medicine. Thanks to those people, she could truly be a lady capable of giving birth. One of the first, hopefully nothing went wrong. "I trust that I won't need any accommodations for my age?"
The doctor shook their head, coming to a stop in front of a door. Opening it up, the couple found themselves staring into a examination room. By no means the place where the baby would be delivered, this was the first step in the process. Of course, that also meant having to get undressed.
"Do you have a patient gown for me?" Carol called out and watched the doctor exit the room. For now, she sat down in one of the chairs. Misty was right behind, giving her pregnant wife's hand a squeeze. Getting a squeeze back, their lips met in a short and passionate kiss. Breaking away, that was the doctor's cue to come back with the patient gown. Handing it over to Carol, the mother-to-be got up. Motioning for Misty and the doctor to go out, the pair complied. Closing the door with them, Carol got to work getting into the patient gown. An absolute cinch compared to some of her maternity clothes, time was taken to smooth it all out. "You can come back in now!"
Misty and the doctor entered once more. Giving Carol a quick look, a smile formed on Misty's face. Which was promptly followed by a camera flash.
"Let's get you to a proper room." the doctor explained and lead the couple out of the room and over to the elevator. Taking it up a couple floors, the couple found themselves in another hallway. Thankfully, this one wasn't as far as the last time. "Here we are. Soon, you'll get to see your little girl."
Misty nodded and stepped inside, her wife following right behind. The hours that followed were absolutely stressful. Any moment, Carol could go into labor and bring a little bundle of joy into the world. In retrospect, she probably should've brought a crossword puzzle or sudoku to do while she waited.
"Misty!"
Returning to the room, a smile formed on the gym leader's face. Carol was currently holding a beautiful baby girl.
"What do you want to name her?" Misty whispered, ignoring the various hospital staff and focusing on just her wife. Getting a chuckle from Carol, she took that moment to sit herself down.
"Flora." Carol answered and got a nod from Misty in return. After, she focused on her daughter. "Welcome to the world, my little Flora."
