It took Jon only a few moments to reconcile his worldview. As his mind swirled with the adaptation, he became aware of a second consciousness ambling through his mind. He could see through Sarah's eyes! Even as his mind attempted to reconcile the unbelievable idea of having the two disparrate personalities within it, the Jon-mind began to scream at the Sarah mind.
Sarah was crossing the busy intersection between Main and Elm, moving from the local coffee shop in the general direction of the high school where, in her mind at least, she was going to pick up hercar and see her friends. Unfortunatly, between her cell phone and her Ipod, she was not the most acutely aware of her surroundings. Jon's mind, thanks to the wish, recognized the danger that Sarah herself was missing! A large truck, the imported beer ad on it's side rather ironically displaying a smiling cheerleader and her football playing boyfriend, was furiously honking it's horn as the driver slammed on his brakes.
Sarah, literally didn't know what hit her.
Jon was rather shocked to feel what had happened to Sarah. Luckilly the magic of the stone had cushioned the force on his mind, or he too would have been lost along with Sarah. Jon figured that, even as he felt her conssciousness slip away, this was as far as the stone could take him. The power to examine the afterlife seemed far beyond even a magical wishing stone.
Which brought him to the matter at hand. He had definatly been transformed into a woman. He quickly ducked into a convenient bathroom and caught his reflection. The girl in the mirror reminded him quite a bit of his father. The chesnut hair, the slightly over large nose, and the smattering of freckles on her cjlheek were all her dad's fault. The bust wasn't bad, though, having seen pictures of his mom in high school and then in college he was quite aware that the modest globes might very well blossom again later.
But why had the wish transformed him? Be understood sharing her eyes, he had wished to know what had happened to the poor, bitchy cheerleader. But what now was the purpose in being in this body?
Suddenly Jon heard a ringing sound. She looked around for the source and then realized it had come from her pocket. She withdrew a Blackberry smartphone and was treated to a picture of a smiling Sarah and the new Jon looking out from behind some victory fingers. The called ID was haunting: Sarah
"Hello?" even his new voice was feminine!
At the other end there was a weak whisper, "Andrea? It's Sarah," in the vlbackgroumd Jon could her Sirens, "I don't think I have long. Look under my bed for a Polly Pocket. You'll know the one. There's some cough stuff there you need to ...." there was the sound of a phone hitting pavement. Jon tentativly reachdled out with his mind, searching for Sarah's. He could not detect even the faint fading anymore.
So what there could have been important enough for Sarah to call from her deathbed?
