In his mad dash to leave his room, Jon accidentally bumped into his mother Jane and immediately swapped ages with her.
In a matter of seconds, Jon gained twenty years and became thirty-seven years old and his mom lost twenty years and became seventeen years old. Since there was such a change in age, Jane looked considerably different. Jon had seen pictures of his mom when she was in high school and that's exactly how she looked now, besides the contemporary choice of clothes that she now wore. And Jon was much different as well. He was now what he would look like as an adult - a thirty-seven year old man.
"Sorry, Dad," the teenage Jane said, walking into Jon's bedroom, which was apparently hers now.
Dad? Jon thought. He supposed it made sense, since he was probably the only adult in the house. But it was so weird, being treated as a parent. Especially by the one that used to be his mother.
As Jon walked into the master bedroom (which was apparently his room now), he thought about what had happened. He was physically twenty years older and reality had changed so that he was supposed to be that way, which apparently meant that he was Jane, Zoe, and Mikey's father, as weird as it sounded. Was he still friends with Karyn? Being so old, he probably wasn't. He probably had friends his age. But who were they? And where did he work? At his mother's office or somewhere else?
As he pondered these things, he watched as the sky returned to its normal color.
