"Well, what is it? And what does it do?" Karyn asked.
"According to what the stone told me, it's a crystal pendant necklace. It has the power to protect the wearer from magical attacks. And that includes the wishing stone," Jon said.
"She has a defense against the stone? What exactly does that mean?"
"I think it means that if we use it to change reality, her memories wouldn't change along with everyone else's. She's completely immune to the workings of the stone ... when she's wearing the pendant necklace."
"So, what does this mean for us?" Karyn asked.
"Well, it means that if we use the stone, she'll know that something is different. I'd rather that only you and me know about the wishing stone. I never thought of Zoe's friend as a threat before, but right now she could be."
"Then what should we do about it? If the stone doesn't work on her, we can't just wish the problem away. We'll have to think of something else."
