"It's Sarah," Jon said, sounding astonished.
"What about her?" Karyn asked.
"She's a Goth."
"What? That's impossible. She hates the Goths. She's like the direct opposite of Goths. Are you sure the stone is working right?"
"Yes, I'm sure. I haven't had any problems with it."
"Well, I think you just did. No way is Sarah McMillan part of the Goth crowd. She'd die before being friends with them."
"But what if ... what if ... she's only pretending to be popular?"
"For what reason?" Karyn asked.
"I don't know."
"Jon, I've known Sarah since grade school. So have you. She's not even remotely a Goth."
"Well, the stone doesn't lie, Karyn. I made a wish and it granted it."
"I still can't believe it," Karyn said, crossing her arms.
"Well, maybe I can use the stone to fill in some of the blanks."
Karyn shrugged.
"I wish to know why Sarah seems to be a preppy popular girl, when in fact she's actually a Goth girl." The stone glowed, granting his wish.
