Jon thought he had it figured out. If he said "not some girl" as part of the wish, the stone couldn't trick him by turning him into a girl. It worked to that extent; he didn't transform.
Karyn slapped him. "How could you?"
"W-- wait a minute," said Jon, recoiling. "I wished you'd find me attractive. That's all."
"You may be attractive, but you're being a creep. You must have this idea that a girl will go with any person she is attracted to no matter how bad they act. And that's not true."
"No matter how they act? What did I do?"
"My girlfriend. I have one, you know. Or I had. When I try to think of her, there's... nothing now, because of your damned wish! And the wish changes reality, and if I never found her attractive we're probably not together any more in the first place!"
"Calm down, Karyn. Like you said, just because you find someone attractive doesn't mean you're their slave. I just opened some new possibilities, you can go out with me if you choose to, I'm not forcing you to do anything."
"Didn't you listen to what I said? You wished I'd find you attractive and not some girl. You didn't just add to the possibilities, you took all the girls away as possibilities."
Shocked, Jon finally realized what he did. "I didn't mean... I have to fix it."
"You showed me how the stone works. You can't fix it. Wishes can't be reversed."
"They can't exactly be reversed, but I could change what kind of blue that branch was. Here's the wish...."
