Jon saw his mother. "What am I doing here, Jon?" she asked, bewildered. "I was in my bedroom and suddenly I was here."
"I... um...," said Jon. He couldn't speak. What had happened? Why had the stone brought his mom? He wanted an extraterrestrial, not her.
"Something tells me you're behind this, Dear," said his mom. "I think you owe me an explanation."
How could he explain this to his mother. He decided to tell his mother the truth. There didn't seem to be any other way around it at the moment. He didn't know what would happen if he made a wish to change someone's memory if they were there to hear it. "You know that gift Grandpa left me when he died?" said Jon. "It was a wishing stone. Grandpa found it when he was doing archeological research in Central America and he left it to me. I just make a wish and the stone grants whatever it is."
"A wishing stone?" said his mother. "All right, mister. Suppose this is true. Lets see you prove it." Jon made a wish for her to move two feet to the left. When she did, she said, "All right. I guess the wishing is real. Now, what did you wish for? How did I get into your room?"
"I wanted to meet an extraterrestrial," admitted Jon. "You know, an alien. And I got you. I don't know why, but that's what happened."
His mother gasped and sat down, her face pale. "I suppose you were going to find out eventually," she said. "Your father and I were going to tell you eventually, but I suppose now is as good as any."
"Tell me what," said Jon.
"I am an extraterrestrial," said his mom. "I came to your planet with your grandfather. He was doing long-term research into ancient human cultures and technology. Its fortunate that we're so similar to humans. We were able to blend in perfectly. I met your father, we fell in love and I decided to stay here and get married. Your grandfather stayed as well so that he could continue his research and so that he could stay near me. Your father already knows and we were planning to tell you all when you grew up. And I suppose that now you know."
"But how could you have children if you're an alien?" asked Jon.
"We're similar enough biologically that we can have children with humans," said his mother. "Like how Spock in Star Treck was half human and half Vulcan. Only your father is human and your mother isn't."
"Have you ever gone back to your planet?" asked Jon.
"Once or twice," said his mother. "Mostly before I had children. Even with our technology, it would take too long to go back for me to do it without raising suspicion or leaving you alone for long periods of time."
Jon sat down next to his mother. This changed everything. He had so many questions for his mother.
