"Look," said Jon. "I know you can hear me. I was able to hear you when you were the ghost. That stone can do a lot of things. Surely there's enough for both of us?"
The girl looked at him warily, but he continued to explain.
"Please," he said. "You can wish that I'm in my own body again. Make me a new one. We can both be alive! It doesn't just have to be you."
"Oh, really?" she said. "I wish I knew if he's telling the truth." Then the stone flashed and she hesitated. "Hmm. Okay. I wish that you're alive in a copy of your own body, without me losing this one."
Jon, floating a bit above the ground, saw the room rise a bit... No, he was sinking. He was now standing on the floor. He felt flesh form around him and he was suddenly breathing and wearing clothes. He was alive. "I'm..."
At the sound of his own voice, Jon realized what had gone wrong, and coughed. Looking himself over, he had breasts and long hair--he was a girl through and through. In fact, he was a girl identical to the former ghost girl. She had, of course, his body. And she had turned it into a girl. A copy of his body would also be a girl then.
He'd have to reinterpret the wish. There were probably a lot of ways to do it. But any of them meant having the stone, which he didn't. "I didn't mean that!" he said in his new feminine voice. "You have to fix the wish."
"It worked, didn't it?"
"I'm a guy!"
"All right, I wish you're a guy."
Nothing happened.
"You can't just reverse a wish, you've got to act like a literal genie and interpret the other wish so that it made me a boy without reversing it."
"I don't know how to do that."
"Okay, give me the stone."
"I'm not going to do that. You're going to get rid of me."
"First, I can't, and second, look how messed up my life is! I'm a girl and everyone thinks I've always been that way. They probably think we're sisters too."
"I'm not planning on being dead."
"We can figure something out. Please, the stone..."
Just then a voice yelled out. "Jonnie, Kelly, I need you to help me fold the laundry..."
"I take it your name's Kelly," said Jon.
