As hard as the decision was, Jon knew what the best answer to this problem was. "There's no time, Karyn." he said. "We need to get out of town as soon as possible. We can text them on the way, but if we spend too much time here, we'll risk losing our chance to leave."
Karyn stared, wide eyed, at Jon. "I can't believe you would just leave them..." she said. "Your mom, and Mikey... We need to get them, Jon. They have no idea about this. They could end up..."
"Listen, if Zoe's still involved in this, then we can hope she'll have enough morality in her to leave them alone." Jon said. "But you know we can't run all over town to get them. Like I said, our best course of action is to just get out of town ASAP and text or call them on the way."
Karyn still looked shocked, and seemed to be mulling over what Jon was saying. He had already made his decision. Leaving, or trying to leave, was their best option. The longer they spent in town, the more chances that they would end up falling victim to one of Athena's wishes.
The only question now was whether Karyn would see things the same way. Whether she would decide to go with Jon, or stay and try to help her family.
