Lucifer grimaced as he watched Jon sleep from his throne. "How dare that child outsmart me, the lord of darkness?" he asked himself. "I have driven men far better than him to sin, and I shall not have him best me."
He stood up and began pacing about the room. "But how will I get to him?" he asked himself. "Obviously targeting his friends and family won't work. I'll need to influence him directly. I could alter his body more, but I doubt that will be enough..."
His eyes scanned the room slightly, and fell on a small box set on a table. He grinned, remembering what was inside the box. "Hmmm, one of those should do very nicely..." he said, walking over to the box and opening it up.
Inside of the box were seven rings, each one with a different colored stone. Each also represented one of the seven deadly sins. Brown was greed, orange was gluttony, blue was sloth, black was anger, yellow was pride, purple was lust, and green was envy.
"By giving Jon one of these rings, he'll be influenced by it. That should be enough to tempt him into using the stone for selfish reasons. Especially if I continue to alter his body as necessary."
With that, the devil plucked one of the rings to the box and transferred himself to Jon's room to slip it onto his finger.
