"I wish ..." Just as he was about to wish the week was over, Jon stopped himself, as he noticed the stone was fused to his body, in his hand. "What the ...?"
"Now, what seems to be the problem?" the male nurse asked, with his deep burly voice.
"Uh, actually ... I feel okay now."
"Jon, you collapsed. And then you freaked out when I tried to wake you," Karyn said.
"Collapsed, huh?" the nurse said.
"But I'm fine now. See?" He pointed to himself. "I'm not freaking out. I'm fine."
"I suppose ..." the nurse said.
"Come on, Karyn. Let's get out of here." Jon stood up and pulled Karyn with him. On the way back to the classroom, he asked Karyn "Didn't you see anything wrong with that guy?"
"What guy?"
"The nurse."
"Jon, the nurse is a woman."
"What?" Jon turned around and caught a glimpse of someone moving around in the nurse's office. She was right. It was a female nurse, dressed in normal attire. Why did he see a man instead?
But then it occurred to him. That Lucifer guy was trying to tempt him to use the stone. He probably changed Jon's perception to make him see whatever he wanted Jon to see. How could Jon trust anything his eyes showed him from that point on?
"Are you sure you're okay, Jon?"
"Yes. I'm fine."
Karyn was starting to sound like a broken record.
