"We have to find that gemstone," Jon said. "But with a town this size, it'll be like looking for a needle in a haystack."
"Why don't you just use the stone?" Karyn asked.
"Right," Jon said, feeling stupid that he didn't think of that first. "I wish I knew who has the magic gemstone." But there was no flash and nothing happened.
"Why won't it work?" Karyn asked.
"I wish ... I had a cheeseburger in my hand," Jon said, testing it out again. But still nothing happened. "Still nothing."
"What does that mean?"
"The gemstone must be nearby."
"Where?"
They looked around to see if anyone was there that wasn't a few minutes ago, and as they did, Sarah drove by in her car. That's when Karyn noticed Sarah's necklace. She hadn't noticed her wearing it before. The gemstone that hung from her neck was so stunningly blue ...
Gemstone?
"Jon, look," Karyn said, pointing at Sarah as she drove by. "Sarah has a gemstone. She's wearing it as a necklace."
"Are you sure?"
"Positive. Maybe that's it. Maybe that's the artifact."
Jon dreaded that notion. Sarah was already spoiled. The idea of her having a magic gemstone with ultimate power scared him. But, if she had it all this time, why didn't she use it to become a goddess or something? Perhaps she didn't even know what it was. If that was true, Jon hoped it stayed that way.
"What should we do?" Karyn asked.
