As Jon walked home, he quickened his pace. Given how powerful the stone was, he didn't want anyone else to be around to witness him using it. Using it with Karyn at school was a very risky thing to do, now that he thought about it. What if someone saw them use it? Like Steve Farber, or even worse yet Sarah McMillan. No, his bedroom was the best place to do his wishing.
I'm not sure you want to do that.
Jon stopped and looked around. There was no one there. Where did that voice come from? He shrugged his shoulders and continued on his way.
When he approached his house, it happened again.
Big mistake.
"Who's saying that?" Jon asked aloud. But no one answered. He began to think he was losing his sanity.
He reached for the front door, intending on opening it.
That's a bad idea. You really don't want to go in there.
Was the voice really talking to Jon?
He opened the door anyway and walked inside. There was nothing out of the ordinary, so he walked upstairs to his bedroom.
Sitting down on his bed, he pulled the stone out of his pocket. He paused for a moment, thinking that the voice may come back, but it didn't.
"Hmm," Jon thought for a moment. "I wish ..."
