The Susans found themselves in the middle of the hall. The Business-Susan had her mind set on working towards her promotion for work, while the Motherly-Susan was set on cooking dinner for tonight. They both briefly tugged their body to where they each wanted to go, but in doing so kept their other half from doing what they wanted to do. After a couple of seconds of their body rocking back and forth Business-Susan spoke up. "I have an idea," she turned to face her other half. "Why don't we go and grab my laptop so that I can do my work in the kitchen while you cook?"
"Right," Motherly-Susan looked back at her other half. "You've always been the more innovative one."
"Yes. But you've always been the domestic one," Business-Susan teased back. They gave each other a quick peck on the lips and went to grab their laptop. As they walked they found it getting easier and easier to do so. Their legs and rhythms naturally going in sync. Once they found their laptop they set it up on the countertop opposite to the stove, as to not get it dirty.
"How about you help me write out an email and then we can go prep for dinner?"
"I don't see why not. It's easier to type and cook with both hands," They first got to work on the laptop. Typing was familiar yet alien to the both of them, but after a while they got the hang of typing as fast as Business-Susan could with her own two hands. As they typed they turned their heads inwards and discussed what to type before they go ahead and type it out. It's not the smoothest workflow, and it certainly didn't help that they would flirt in between typing and discussing. Once they sent out the email they turned around and started on dinner. And again as they cut up some vegetables and seasoned the meat they flirted with each other. Often giving each other surprise pecks on the cheek and giggling between the two. The two were having so much fun having their counterpart right next to them, and they enjoyed doing everything with them.
Suddenly, their work phone started to ring and instinctively Business-Susan tried to turn her body around to go and answer it but the other Susan didn't react. "Honey, our phone's ringing."
"Oh, sorry. I'll come with you," Motherly-Susan apologized as they went to go grab it. Business-Susan took the phone and answered it and it was one of her co-workers. She held the phone on her side instead of in between their heads, leaving Motherly-Susan to stand about mindlessly.
At that moment Zoe walked into the kitchen. "Mom, I'm hungry. Is dinner ready yet?"
"I'm still working on it, Sweetie. It'll be done soon." Zoe took the answer and left the kitchen for her moms to finish up dinner. Motherly-Susan looked over to the stove and saw that she forgot to set the burner to a lower setting. Without hesitation she tried to walk over and get to it before it started to burn but her other half jerked back at her. "Darling, our food is going to burn." Still on the phone, Business-Susan nodded to her other half and mouthed the word 'Sorry', since she was still on the phone. They walked over back to the stove and Motherly-Susan took care of the food. She thought that it would be a good time to start on some of the side dishes so she looked at Business-Susan to see what she was up to, but she was still on the phone. Not wanting to bother her with her work she went ahead and started by herself.
Business-Susan on the other hand was listening to a co-worker who needed a couple documents to be sent to her. Searching and sending these documents would be a piece of cake with two hands, so she looked over to Motherly-Susan but saw she was cooking by herself. Not wanting to take her away from cooking dinner, she decided to go ahead and send those documents by herself. Their body, stretched between the two countertops as they both tried to do individual things. It wasn't long until the things they were doing individually were affecting each other's work.
