The stone glowed, causing her to look away, and when the light dissipated, Karyn saw that she had turned into a guy! She touched her chest. It was flat, but a bit muscular.
"Oh my god! Jon, what happened to me?" Karyn asked, startled by what the stone had done to her. It was so strange to hear her new lower-pitched voice.
"I think it's for the best, Karyn," Jon said, still leaning back in his chair.
"Jon, I'm a guy."
"So? I'm a guy too."
Karyn stood up and looked at herself in the mirror. She looked pretty hot, someone she'd definitely fall for, if she was still a girl.
She turned back towards Jon. "How did this happen? All I wanted was a girl for a friend. I didn't say anything about wanting to be a guy."
"But didn't you say you wanted a girlfriend? The stone probably turned you into a guy, to keep you heterosexual."
Karyn stared. "I said girl friend. Not girlfriend. Oh my god, Jon. The stone didn't do what I intended, just what I said."
At that moment, Karyn's cell phone rang. She took it out of her pocket and saw the name on the screen. It was Melissa Smith, one of the cheerleaders from the high school. What did she want?
"Hello?" Karyn asked. It was going to take a while to get used to that deeper voice.
"Hi, Karl. So, are we still going out tonight or what? I thought you said you were picking me up. You didn't change your mind, did you?"
Karyn stared again and dropped the phone. Melissa's my girlfriend, Karyn thought.
