Zoe picked up the phone and began to dial, hands shaking as she put the receiver to her ear. From the corner of her eye she could see herself clearing up the kitchen.
"Uh..." She made a sound, walking away from the kitchen door. She did not want to see that. She didn't want to see any of this madness!
The phone rang a couple of times. Her heart was beating loudly in her ears, a hammer, many hammers. She realised she was biting her nails and stopped just as someone picked up the phone on the other side.
"Hello?" Zoe's voice came through the phone.
"Uh!" She cried quietly, dropping the phone in surprise. Quickly she put the phone back on its charger and ran up the stairs. She had hoped that this was contained to the house but... but that had been her voice on the other end of the phone! No matter if it was Amanda or her parents that picked up, it had been her voice. Meaning that there were more of her. Everyone was like her.
"Holy shit... holy fucking shit," She whispered, her back against her bedroom door. The place was dark, black curtains drawn tightly. "What nightmare is this?" Zoe didn't like how shaky her voice sounded, but she knew it was of course a normal reaction. This was madness! There must be a reason why this happened.
"I am not dreaming - this is real. This is fucking real. And someone - or something - did this to me," She swallowed hard, arms wrapped around her chest. Zoe wasn't shaking anymore. "I need to figure out who did this."
