Hearing his alarm clock, Tom Welles awoke to a darkened room. His black curtains did their job of keeping the sunlight out.
Realization of what had happened to him the previous night filled his mind. That freak boy Jon Gibson turned him into a freak boy.
Slowly, he sat up and turned towards his mirror, in which (even in the dimmed light) he could see his reflection.
How am I supposed to go to school like this? he thought to himself. I look like a walking nightmare.
He thought about not going to school. It would be easy, he'd just skip all his classes. But then he remembered Jon's threat:
"Do you want your other friends to become like you? Because you know I can make it happen."
If he didn't go along with it, Jon would turn all of his friends (now former friends) into freaks too. He imagined Jay Duncan, Steve Farber, and Lenny Drullers all getting changed into Goths. No, he couldn't do that to them. They may not remember being friends with him in this new twisted reality, but Tom remembered. And that's all that mattered.
Sighing, Tom stood up and began to get ready.
